GEODESIC VISITOR ACCOMMODATION DOMES

Popularised in the early 20th century by world renowned architect and visionary Buckminster Fuller, the geodesic dome, with its exceptional strength and highly efficient structural framework, finds a new place to land at the end of the earth on an island in southeastern Tasmania.

Recognised for its engineering prowess, a clever and crafty engineer owner-builder has taken advantage of the easily prefabricated nature of the structure to fly in from afar and set up as a temporary living pod for visitors at a picturesque bush setting in Adventure Bay, Bruny Island.

The domes that are described as “doing more with less” align perfectly in principle with the sustainable low impact ethos of the visitor accommodation retreat.

The job was to facilitate documentation, compliance, and approvals for the project – now in the capable hands of the owner to take the helm and execute his own reimagined vision for the iconic dome structures.
